Foundations - Endowments
The past decade has proved trying for many foundations and endowments. Proper management of these assets is key to
fulfilling mission statements and supporting the values and
vision of these entities.
Challenges include:
- Building Proper Portfolios*
- Managing and Adjusting Portfolios*
- Avoiding Excessive Downside Risk
Our analysis indicates that too many of these funds have become heavily exposed to excessive risk and volatility because portfolios are antiquated in terms of asset allocation, and do not contain proper risk mitigating elements. Too often, this is the result of investment policies that are dated, and have not been revised by consultants or managers.
The 2008 - 2009 market collapse has foundation and board members realizing that risk management must be addressed, and portfolio construction must be modernized. If it is not, results will be the same during the next market adjustment.
Our role is to assist board members in finding a solution addressing and mitigating risk while maintaining a modern, managed portfolio exposed to potential growth. PRUDENT AND PRESERVED,
